The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) will present their Christmas concert this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Camden High School. The concert is free and open to the public. The CCCB is in its 36th year of presenting music to the Camden and Kershaw County area. The band has four concerts per year – two in Rectory Square Park and two at Camden High School. Associate conductor Robert Wertz will direct the band during most of the concert with assistance from other band members. Sunday will open with James Curnow’s “Overture to a Winter Festival” followed by “Baby It’s Cold Outside” featuring Jane LaRoche, Randy Herald, Mike Clyburn and Bob Loryea. Amber Pitts will conduct “Candlelight Carol” while Gene Cameron will lead in “Holly and the Ivy” and “In the Christmas Mood” will be conducted by George Gray. “This is the band’s gift to our community”, said Johnny Deal, the band’s publicity chair. “Bring your children and grandchildren as Santa Claus will be stopping by for a visit”, Deal added.
