The Camden Garden Club will hold its next meeting Monday at Dixie Hall Plantation, home of Patsy Topping. This will be a business meeting so there will be no guests, but the speaker will be Joan Danforth who is Chairman of the Flower Guild for the Garden Club of Columbia. Her program will be on Floral Arrangement Initiatives in Columbia.
Throughout the year, members are encouraged to bring in specimens and make arrangements. These are judged and awarded points. The Helen Phelps Bowl will be presented to the member who accumulated the most points in Horticulture and Design/Arrangements. After this, The President’s Award will be presented to the member whose work exceeds normal club duties and responsibilities by exemplifying the love of gardening, cooperation, and enthusiastic participation in all club activities.
The judges for this month’s entries will be Catherine French, chairman, Sarah Kimball, and Susan Prettyman and the suggested theme is "The Lusty Month of May". They are to use only fresh materials from their yards and gardens. Also, there will be a plant exchange, if you have too many of one thing and would like to share or swap, please bring it with you and maybe try something new.
After the program, the judges’ report, and the year end trophy awards, hostess chairman Mary Foster Cox, along with Sarah Kimball, and Catherine French will put out refreshments for all.
