The Camden High School (CHS) volleyball program will host its annual "Dig Pink" match today at CHS’s Michael G. Culp court. All proceeds of the event will be given to the Sideout Foundation which benefits breast cancer awareness and research. The first match of the evening will feature Camden vs. Cardinal Newman at 5 p.m. The second match will have Irmo playing Cardinal Newman; the final match will be between Camden and Irmo.

A breast cancer awareness ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the first match. Recognition and presentation of roses will be made to breast cancer survivors. The ceremony will end with the exchange of gifts between all teams. During the second match, local hairstylists will be on hand to cut hair for "Pantene Beautiful Lengths."

Other fundraisers during the night include a Silent Auction with over 60 items. The winning bids will be announced at the end of the second match. A face painter will have a variety of Dig Pink artistry from which audience members may choose. Concessions and pink items will be on sale throughout the night. In addition to hot dogs, drinks, chips and pink sweets, fans may also purchase the 2013 Dig Pink T-shirt.

CHS head volleyball coach Paige Wilson said the event has become a highlight of the season, not only for her team, but for others taking part in the festivities. The student body and school staff are encouraged to participate in Dig Pink Dress Up Day.

"This is an opportunity for Camden High School, the volleyball program and our community to do something good to help others in need," Wilson said. "This event has gotten bigger and better every year. We really appreciate all the support we have received in the past and we hope that people who may not have been to a volleyball match this season will come out and support this cause."
