The Aloha Relay For Life team is "Cookin’ For A Cure."

Its annual fundraising dinners will begin on Feb. 8. Dinners are held every two weeks on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church.

The church is located at 2211 Porter Crossroad in Lugoff and has a large fellowship hall that easily accommodates a large crowd. Dinners are available for eat-in or take-out.

The team purchases, prepares and serves enough to feed 200 people at each of the dinners. All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Kershaw County.

Each meal is different and the $8 donation includes tea and a homemade dessert.

Gail Kirkland, Relay for Life event chair states "It’s great home style food, good friends, family, fellowship and fundraising. This team is truly dedicated to making a difference in the fight against cancer. The Aloha team has been a significant part of Relay For Life for many years and as the top fundraising team for many years they raise $30,000-$35,000 of the county total. These dedicated team members work very hard cooking and serving up some of the best food you’ll ever eat."

The Aloha team encourages everyone to plan ahead and attend these dinners to help us reach our county goal of raising $170,000.

If you are interested in sponsoring one of these meals or making a donation to offset the cost, please contact Gail Kirkland at 438-3483 or In addition, the team encourages others to form a team or join their team by registering online at
