The Camden Community Concert Band (CCCB) recently awarded its first-ever W. Patrick Wylie Memorial Scholarship to Alex Greenwood, a senior at Lugoff-Elgin High School. The scholarship is named for Pat Wylie, the founding conductor of the CCCB for more than 30 years who passed away in 2017.

According to the CCCB, Alex is a talented musician playing percussion, tuba and French horn. He made the All-State Band three times, principal tuba with the S.C. Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and is a CCCB member. Alex will also tour for the third year with the Drum Corps International’s Spirit of Atlanta.

Alex plans to enroll at Winthrop University in the fall and major in music.

Anyone interested in contributing to the Pat Wylie Scholarship can mail a donation to the CCCB, P.O. Box 521, Camden SC 29021.
