Historian to speak on Carolina Backcountry History at KCHS

Michael C. Scoggins
A multi-faceted historian and author of several locally relevant books will speak at the Kershaw County Historical Society’s 3 p.m. public program Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Robert Mills Courthouse, 607 Broad Street, Camden. Michael C. Scoggins is the historian for the Culture & Heritage Museums in McConnells, S.C., near his home, and is research director of the Southern Revolutionary War Institute in York. With degrees in science, engineering technology, and history, Scoggins was employed as an electronics engineer almost 20 years before changing careers in 1999 to pursue his life-long interest in military history and Southern history.
