This year, the Kershaw County Music Association will hold a Music Competition on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in the Wood Auditorium. Two awards will be given:
• Senior/Fran Shealy Scholarship $500 for music study - grades 9 - 12
• Junior Scholarship | $250 for music study - grades 6, 7 and 8
The competition may begin as early as noon, depending on the number of competitors. A concert with all candidates will be held at 4 p.m. after the competition. The public is invited to attend the concert.
The application must be postmarked by Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. You may drop your application off at the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There is a $5 application fee. Applications may be found on the FAC website at www.fineartscenter.com or you may mail it to:

The competition will be followed by a concert showcasing the talented young musicians who participated in the competition.
The KCMA, an affiliate and one of the founding organizations of the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County was formed to encourage, support and promote young musicians and to foster knowledge and appreciation of quality music in Kershaw County. In addition to the coordination of the competition and recital, the KCMA performs both a fall and spring Choral Showcase, as well as a Member/Guest Showcase in the spring. The CMA also provides other opportunities for students and adults to perform; assists with the FAC’s School Arts Performance Series, the FAC Chamber Music concerts and the Chamber Choir of Kershaw County concerts.
