Chldren who enter the foster care system are in need of caring adults to speak up for them in Family Court. The Guardian ad Litem is a strong child advocate for children. Advocates must be over 21 years old and be able to give four to five hours a month to visit a child. Volunteers do not need to have a college degree, or a legal or social work background. The very best child advocates are people who care about children.
Kershaw County residents who are concerned about child abuse victims can get involved this month. The Kershaw County Office of the Cass Elias McCarter Gaurdian ad Litem Program is offering the training program at no cost. The next training class is scheduled to start in January, 2016.
Contact Christy Vinson at the Kershaw County office at 803-425-1412 today to learn more about how to get involved. Visit http://www.kershaw.admin.sc.gov to get more information and to download an application.
