KHGC to meet Monday

The King Haiglar Garden Club will meet on Monday at 3 p.m. at the home of Judy Smith.

The program will be the planting and care of winter house plants.

Hostesses will be Judy Smith, Barbara Cross and Carol Meckstroth.

Judges for the arrangements and horticulture will be Carolyn Hammond, Julie Trott, and Grace Young.  Ellen Vaughan and Cathy Moss will be in charge of Garden Maintenance for the month.

The theme for the arrangements will “flowers of late winter and early spring.” Miniature arrangements should not exceed 10 inches.

Members are reminded to bring specimens and arrangements by 3 p.m.

Gardening Tips for February:

• Time to prune roses.  Cut back any dead wood; then prune the small branches leaving only the large main branches.

• Start plants from seeds inside for later transplant in the garden.

• Deadhead and fertilize winter blooming plants, such as pansies and violas.
