During Holiday Hopes, students at Lugoff-Elgin High School came together to raise $11,202.41 for various charitable organizations in Kershaw County.
"We felt honored to be a part of these families’ lives," said a student representative of a class that collected toys for a children’s hospital.
The program opened with Principal Tommy Gladden urging students to see where they could share with the mission of giving within their communities.
Next, drama students did a dramatic reading of "The Giving Tree" followed by student organizations revealing the amount of money they raised during Holiday Hopes.
ROTC, the L-EHS dance class and the L-EHS step team performed. Students from the Wateree Elementary School Choir also performed two selections.
The L-EHS band performed several selections including the holiday favorite "Sleigh Ride."
Representatives from the charitable organization received the student’s donations.
