Kim McCathern and State Rep. Laurie Slade Funderburk of Books on Broad helped out with United Way of Kershaw County’s (UWKC) Day of Caring on September 11. McCathern and Funderburk cleaned and brought in new books and toys for the family visitation room at the Department of Social Services office. Funderburk said Books on Broad wanted to help provide a welcoming place “for when children who have been placed in the system are visiting with their families.” She also said she was very pleased to be a part of the Day of Caring and added, “It is our privilege to be a part of this community and to help when we can.”
The C-I apologizes for leaving the contributions of McCathern, Funderburk and Books on Broad out of the article published Monday about the UWKC’s Day of Caring.
