The Kershaw County Master Gardeners are having their Spring Plant Sale May 10 at the Homemakers Building at Church and DeKalb Streets in Camden. With many new and different varieties, it is a sale you will not want to miss if you need replacement plants for what the unusual weather may have taken from your garden.
If your heart beats a bit faster at the mention of True Black Brandywine of Indigo Rose, Aunt Ruby’s German Green, Heirloom Green, Delicious of Mammoth heirloom tomato varieties and bemoan the fact that you must sacrifice red tomatoes later in the season or else lose the green tomato season? If so, you will love tomatoes that stay green when ripe all season. Herbs, perennials, annuals, trees, shrubs, vines, Alpine strawberry plants and much more will be available, so put the date -- the day before Mother’s Day -- on your calendar. Remember to arrive early as plants like these don’t last long.
The exclusive plant guide provides facts about the plants for sale and knowledgeable Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any questions about gardening. Recipe sheets are also available for some herbs and tomatoes and are included free with purchases.
Bring Mom, tell your friends, but get there early as many plants are in limited supply. The doors at 8 a.m. as you do not want to miss this sale.
