Rash to be Friends of the Library guest speaker

Pat Conroy has placed Ron Rash in “the front ranks of the best American novelist,” the New Yorker has compared his work to both John Steinback and Cormac McCarthy, and Richard Russo, Pulitzer Prize-winning author says that “Ron Rash is a writer of both the darkly beautiful and the sadly true.” Rash was raised in Boiling Springs, N.C. and has been called the “Bard of Appalachia.” He studied creative writing at Gardner-Webb University and then Clemson University and has since written poetry, short stories and novels depicting his love and appreciation of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
