Smith Scholarship awarded to six local students
The late James and Nell Smith, founders of the Smith Scholarship
The late James and Nell Smith, former co-owners of Camden Food Shop, created a scholarship for students attending local Baptist churches with high academic achievement. Since the scholarship began in 2006, a total of $43,500 has been awarded to college bound students. The requirements are as follows: the student must be a member of a Baptist church within the Kershaw Baptist Association, the student must submit an essay of their testimony, a transcript, an acceptance letter from a college or proof of attendance and a letter of recommendation from a pastor or youth group leader.
