Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bennett English, Jr., of Camden, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Laura Elizabeth English to Troy Joseph Cody, both of Columbia. He is the son of Ms. Regina Anne Zaucha of Columbia and Mr. William Lee Cody of Ocala, Fla.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Miriam Corbett Brinkley and the late Mr. Richard Henry Brinkley, Sr., both of Wagener; the granddaughter of Ms. Jean Harden English of Sykesville, Md.; and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bennett English, Sr., of Cropwell, Ala. She earned a B.A. degree in political science from Columbia College and her paralegal certification from Midlands Technical College. She is employed as a paralegal with McAngus Goudelock and Courie, LLC, Columbia.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Jacob Vleck of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Marvel Etta St. Aubryn Cody and the late Mr. William Frederick Cody of Lakewood, Ohio. He earned a B.S. degree in early childhood education from Francis Marion University and is currently employed as a fourth-grade teacher with the Kershaw County School District.
The wedding is planned for 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2011, at Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia. Dr. John Richard “Dick” Lincoln, minister of Shandon Baptist, and The Reverend Jennings Badie Duncan, III, of Palmyra, Va., will officiate the ceremony. A reception will follow at the Botanical Gardens in Columbia.
