Brittany Leigh Truesdell and Steven Joseph Bailey, both of Columbia, were married at 6:00 on the evening of May 30, 2015 at Bethany Westville Baptist Church in Westville. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Craigan Blankenship. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at 833 South Broad in Camden, with music provided by Aaron Williams of Double A DJ of Lugoff, food provided by Southern Way Catering in Columbia, and a guest appearance by "Cocky" from the University of South Carolina.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Crystal G. Truesdell and the late Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Truesdell, Jr. of Westville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jean G. Sims of Kershaw, and the late Donald Gardner, and Mr. Gerald W. Truesdell, Sr. of Westville, and the late Barbara F. Truesdell. She is a graduate of North Central High School and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Brittany is employed as office manager of Carolina Children’s Dentistry of Columbia.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Bailey of Rock Hill. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Charlotte Ann Davis of Watertown, New York, and the late Mr. Arthur Jeffrey Davis of Catawba, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Pierce Bailey of Rock Hill. He is a graduate of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Steven is employed as an assistant manager of Bank of America in Lexington.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Mr. Jeremy Truesdell, and given in marriage by her mother. She wore a staples organza ball gown with a sweetheart neckline. The drop waist gown had a heavily embellished waistband that delicately emphasized the waist leading to a ruffled skirt and chapel length train. She carried a bouquet of coral movie star roses, white peonies and white hydrangeas wrapped with lace from her mother’s wedding dress. She wore a second garter made from the lace and pearls from her mother’s wedding dress and the blue cloth from her late father’s blue clown suit with a charm of his thumbprint.
Matrons of honor were Mrs. Ivy Howard of Summerville, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Sarah Truesdell of Heath Springs, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Sarah Ford Williams of Elgin, Mrs. Jennifer-Ann Bailey of Charleston, sister of the groom, Mrs. Shana Duncan Bullard of Moncks Corner, Mrs. Lisa Hudson Lynn of Florence, and Mrs. Brittany Hickey of Columbia. Miss Ella Taylor Williams of Elgin served as flower girl. The bridesmaids’ dresses were coral chiffon one shoulder with flower detail on the strap and fluted skirt with a side flounce. The flower girl wore an ivory ruffled dress similar to the bride’s dress with a coral sash.
Mr. Randy Bailey, the groom’s father, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Jeremy Truesdell of Heath Springs, brother of the bride, Mr. Nicholas Burkett of Columbia, Mr. Adam Hutto of Lexington, Mr. Ian O’Neill of Columbia, Mr. Kenny Gutzler of Columbia, and Mr. Charles Burkett of Wagener. Master Tyler Joseph Harms of Columbia served as ring bearer. The groom, groomsmen and the ring bearer wore tan tuxedos and white shirts with navy blue vests and bow ties. The ring bearer carried the bride’s late Father’s bible instead of a ring pillow, in her Father’s memory.
Piano music was provided by Mrs. Norma Robinson of Kershaw, soloist was Ms. Kellie Gainey of Sumter, and guestbook and program attendant was Miss Taylor Vincent.
A low country boil engagement party was hosted by Mrs. Donna Vause last summer at her home on Lake Wateree. A miscellaneous shower was hosted by ladies of Bethany Baptist Church in Westville. A bridal shower hosted by Dr. Felicia Goins and Dr. Lisbeth Poag, for coworkers of the bride, was held at Solstice Kitchen in Columbia. A kitchen shower was given by Ms. Kay Young, Mrs. Ivy Howard, Mrs. Heather Gowdy, Mrs. Annie Young, Mrs. Sharon Heins and Mrs. Angie Young at Bethany Baptist Family Life Center. A bridal luncheon was given by Mrs. Kim Bailey and Miss Jennifer-Ann Bailey at The White Horse Restaurant in Rock Hill. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents and catered by Old South Restaurant at Bethany Baptist Family Life Center.
After a honeymoon to Puna Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Columbia.
