The Thiel-Meyer Animal Adoption Center has grown from a dream to a reality. The late Judy Thiel, who served as Kershaw County Humane Society’s Board president, and Austin Meyer, a Columbia native and developer of the flight simulator X-Plane, set this project in motion three years ago and the shelter is ready for business. A grand opening celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The new building is at 128 Black River Road in Camden.
