The Kershaw County American Legion baseball team will open state playoff action tonight when it hosts Aiken in the first game of a first round best-of-five series.

First pitch at American Legion Park in Camden is set for 7 p.m.

Post 17, which dropped an 8-7 decision at Orangeburg in last Friday’s regular season finale, finished second in League III behind Sumter with a 7-5 league mark. Aiken finished third in League 8 with a 6-6 record.

The series shifts to Roberto Hernandez Stadium on the campus of USC-Aiken  for game two on Wednesday before returning to Camden Thursday night. Game four, if necessary, will be in Aiken on Friday while KC will host game five on Saturday, if needed. All games are set for 7 p.m. starts

The winner of the KC vs. Aiken series will meet the winner of the pairing between defending American Legion national champion Chapin-Newberry vs. Hartsville. The second round series will begin on Monday, July 11.

In the other remaining Lower State first round pairings, Florence will meet Manning-Santee, West Columbia will square off with Conway while Lexington will play Sumter.
