The Kershaw County Post 17 American Legion baseball team will make its second state tournament appearance in three years after the locals swept both play-in games held at Florence Legion Field on Wednesday night.

Post 17 is slated to face Rock Hill, the tourney's top seed, Saturday at 9 a.m. at Riley Park in Sumter.

KC knocked off Murrells Inlet, 5-2, in the completion of a game suspended due to rain on Tuesday in Conway. The storm rendered the Conway High School playing field unplayable as the games were shifted to Florence on Wednesday.

Facing Horry County in the nightcap to determine and eighth and final state tournament entry, the 17ers came away with a 3-1 victory.
