Kershaw County Post 17 will return to Conway on Wednesday to complete one game and, hopefully, win a second contest in its quest to earn a spot in the South Carolina American Legion Baseball State Tournament.

The 17ers led Murrells Inlet, 4-0, after three innings before a rain storm forced the game to be suspended with the visitors leading, 4-0, in the top of the fourth. The game will be completed tonight beginning at 6 p.m. with the winner of this contest taking on Horry County, following a 30-minute break, for the eighth and final available slot for the state tourney.

Bradwin Salmond's three-run home run over the right center field fence was part of a four-run top of the third inning for Kershaw County which scored Ross Hough, who singled, and Josh Hernandez, who laced a double to left.

Devin Beckley received the starting nod for the guests and worked three scoreless frames.

The South Carolina American Legion Baseball State Tournament opens Saturday at Riley Park in Sumter.
