By virtue of Friday's 8-6 win over Aiken, in a game completed after being suspended due to Thursday's storm, Kershaw County Post 17 swept the series, 3-0. The locals moved into the second round of the South Carolina Lower State American Legion tournament which begins tonight.

The 17ers' second round opponent in the best-of-five series is defending American Legion World Series champion Chapin-Newberry, a 3-1 winner over Hartsville.

Game one of the series is on tap for tonight at 7 p.m. at Newberry College with game two coming to American Legion Park in Camden on Tueday at 7 p.m. Newberry will host game three on Wednesday. Should a fourth and/or fifth games be necessary, they would be played in Camden and Newberry on Thursday and Friday nights, respectively.

The winner of the second round series automatically qualifies for the South Carolina State American Legion Tournament which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 23 at Riley Park in Sumter.
