After having split their first two games of the season with Manning-Santee last week, the Kershaw County American Legion baseball team had this week off.

Things will get much busier for Post 17 starting next week as the locals will play 10 League III between June 6 and June 30.

First-year head coach Tyler Pike and company kick off their June slate on Monday, June 6 when they open a three-game set with Dalzell-Shaw at American Legion Park in Camden at 7 p.m.

The two-sides will play on Tuesday, June 7 in a 7 p.m. start at Thomas Sumter Academy in Dalzell before closing the season series with a Thursday, June 9 game in Camden at 7 p.m.

This week, the 17ers will be minus several key players for their games due to the players’ families taking summer vacations. In addition, one team member will probably miss at least two games by taking part in this weekend’s North-South All-Star Baseball Weekend activities in Myrtle Beach which will begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday at the Ripken Experience.

Camden High graduate and Bulldog AAA All-State pitcher Will Abbott was selected play for the 2A/3A North All-Star squad which will play games both Friday and Saturday.
