Camden native and former Camden High defensive tackle Roland Johnson has recovered from a knee injury and will be back in action when the University of Minnesota kicks off its 2013 season on Thursday when the Golden Gophers host UNLV in a 7 p.m. start in Minneapolis.Johnson, who played at CHS through his junior season before completing his high school career at Byrnes High School in 2009, played 10 games at defensive tackle for Minnesota a season ago before sustaining a season-ending injury in practice after the Illinois game. In that contest against the Fighting Illini, the 6-foot-1, 286-pounder enjoyed his best game as a Golden Gopher after having recorded a season-best seven tackles to go along with a fumble recovery.In 10 games last fall, Johnson recorded 21 tackles with five for loss of yardage and two sacks.In his final season at Camden High in 2008, Johnson recorded 150 tackles with 95 solo stops.Since graduation from high school, Johnson attended Western Carolina University and then, Butler Community College before signing with Minnesota in 2012.
