It has been one whale of a start to 2013 for several former Camden Bulldog football players. And, the fun may not be over, yet.To kick off the new year, there was South Carolina’s 33-28 win over Michigan in the Outback Bowl played in Tampa on Tuesday afternoon.Shawn Elliott, a 1991 Camden High grad and starting defensive end for Billy Ammons’ 1990 undefeated AAA state championship squad, is in his third year as an assistant coach on Steve Spurrier’s staff. After two seasons as the offensive line/running game coordinator, the former Appalachian State University standout defensive end was promoted to co-offensive coordinator prior to the start of the 2012 season.A former assistant coach at his college alma mater before being hired by Spurrier in January of 2010, Elliott was on the short list of possible successors to his former ASU head coach, Jerry Moore, who retired at the conclusion of this past season.
