Bulldogs top Foxes in 6-AAA tennis opener

It was nice to get home before the clock reached double digits.After having split their first six non-region matches of the season, including several in which they did not get back to town until past 10 p.m., the Camden High tennis team made quick work of host Hartsville on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory.The match was the Region 6-AAA opener for Roger Smoak’s troops which took a 4-3 record into Thursday’s region home pairing with Darlington.“It was good to get a win where we didn’t have to play the last (first doubles) match,” Smoak said following the win. “It was also nice to get home at an early time.”While not playing their best match of the season, the Bulldogs did not need to against a veteran Red Fox team which returned its top three singles players, all of whom are seniors.“I was a little worried about this match because we had beaten them so easily in the past,” Smoak said of previous meetings with Hartsville. “They have their top three players back and they have a veteran team, which they haven’t had their in awhile.
