Camden Baseball Jamboree looks for better weather

GREY HOKE AND CAMDEN will face Crestwood in Saturdays finale of the Camden Baseball Jamboree.
Baseball coaches like to talk about how the baseball gods have either shine or, turn their backs on their teams following a win or a loss.Last Saturday, the baseball gods gave the Cameden Baseball Jamboree the cold shoulder as the field at American Legion Park was rendered unplayable following the early week snowstorm.Hopefully, it will be a different story come Saturday when the annual event gets a “do over.”After several team defections due to previous commitments, Saturday’s rescheduled jamboree has undergone a facelift and will include more local teams, including junior varsity teams from host Camden and Lugoff-Elgin.The five, three-inning mini games will kick off at 9 a.m. with Hartsville facing Laurence Manning Academy. The 10:30 a.m. contest will have the Lugoff-Elgin junior varsity team meeting the Richland Northeast B squad. The middle game of the day will have Lugoff-Elgin and Fairfield Central playing in the noon contest. At 1:30 p.m., the Camden High junior varsity takes on the Crestwood jayvees while the day closes with host Camden squaring off with Crestwood in the 3 p.m. finale.Admission is $3 for the entire day and the concession stand will be in operation selling food and soft drinks.
