Dreher scored three times in the first 18 minutes of play and never looked back in handing visiting Camden a 4-0 loss in a Tuesday night boys’ soccer match played in Columbia. The Bulldogs fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in Region 4-AAA action. The host blue Devils scored on a break in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead before adding a second goal when the Bulldogs failed to clear a ball from their own zone which resulted in Dreher getting a 1-on-1 situation with CHS netminder Richard White to make it 2-0 in the 12th minute of play.Five minutes later, the Blue Devils used another breakaway to hike their advantage to 3-0 in the 17th minute of play.“It was another tough night,” said second-year Camden High head coach Mark Chickering of the loss. “They scored early and we panicked and got out of what we were trying to do.”The hosts tacked on a fourth and final goal in the 62nd minute of the contest. With White nursing an injury, Chickering went with Adrian Lopez in goal in the second half.“Richard White has been banged up and Adrian Lopez stepped in and played well for him in the second half,” said the second-year Bulldog head coach. “We’ve been wanting to get (Lopez) some work and it was encouraging to know we have a capable back-up.”The Bulldogs will try for their first win of the season tonight when Westwood comes to Zemp Stadium for a 7 p.m. start in a doubleheader which will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with the girls’ teams from the two sides playing.Chickering said he has been impressed with his team’s not giving up or, giving in after what has been a rough start to the season.“It’s been hard on the boys,” Chickering said, “but their attitude is still good and they keep working hard.
