Bulldogs enter break on winning note

Playing without starting third singles performer, Nelson Semple, the Camden High tennis team rolled into this week’s spring break with a 4-2 win over Hartsville in a match played last Thursday at the CHS Athletic Complex.The victory gave the Bulldogs (8-3) a 3-0 record in Region 6-AAA play with one conference match remaining while hiking their win streak to five following an 0-2 start to the season.“I was a little concerned about this match without having Nelson,” said CHS head coach Roger Smoak. “But everybody stepped up, played hard and did what they had to do.”The Dogs put this one away in singles, winning the first four matches on the docket starting with Jo Jo Tiller, who improved to 7-0 in solo matches, as he breezed by Zach Grooms at first singles, 6-1, 6-0. Roderick Todd would outlast Rod Russell, 6-7, 6-2, 10-8, in second singles while Davis Goodrich had his hands full before downing George Atkins in third singles, 6-7, 7-5, 10-5.“Their top three players are all seniors.
