Who says that it is hard to beat the same opponent three times in the same season. Not only did the Camden tennis team record a 2012 hat trick over A.C. Flora by winning Thursday’s AAA state playoff opener, but the Bulldogs did so by the same score which they defeated the Falcons in an early season match. The win, which gave Roger Smoak’s troops a 14-3 record, move the Dogs into Tuesday’s second round. The opponent will be a familiar one for Camden as two-time defending state champion Chapin, a 5-1 winner over Hartsville on Thursday, will come to the Camden High courts in a meeting between the 2010 AAA state finalists.Tuesday’s home match is tentatively slated for a 5 p.m. start.A.C. Flora arrived in Camden on Thursday minus two starters. When his players saw that, CHS head coach Roger Smoak said his team know this match may not be as tough as the first two with Flora.“Our players got a little bit overconfident when they found that out,” Smoak said of the guests’ not being at full-strength.
