Bulldogs qualify 10 for AAA Upper State wrestling tourney
CAMDENS JAYDEN POLLARD WON the 145-pound weight division title in Saturdays Region 4-AAA individual championships in Chapin.

Camden High School will send 10 wrestlers --- including three Region 4-AAA champions --- into the state AAA Upper State wrestling championships to be held on Feb. 20-12 at West-Oak Middle School.

Joey Hendrix’s Bulldogs returned home from Saturday’s 4-AAA conference individual tournament in Chapin with junior Dymear Dymear Atkinson, sophomore Caid Cokley, and junior Jayden Pollard winning titles in the 106, 132 and 145 pound divisions, respectively. Senior Xavier White was second at 195 pounds.

Also punching their ticket for West-Oak with top four finishes in Chapin were CHS junior Daniel Gambrell (138 pounds), sophomore Garrit Strunga (152), freshman Zach Phillips (160), sophomore Chris Todd (170), senior Marquis Engram (182) and junior heavyweight Casey Jones.

Team-wise, the 15th ranked Bulldogs finished second behind Chapin in Region 4-AAA and will be on the road for the opening round(s) of the AAA Upper State tournament which begins on Saturday, Feb. 7. South Pointe is the likely host of the four-team event.
