Snapping a two-match goal-less skid, the Camden High boys’ soccer team broke into the win column with a 3-1 victory over visiting Westwood in a wild match played last Friday night at Zemp Stadium. In the opener of the doublehader, the Camden Lady Bulldogs topped Westwood by an identical 3-1 score. The Bulldogs improved to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in Region 4-AAA play with the two-goal win in the nightcap. This contest saw the host play a majority of the game with just 10 players after a Bulldog palyer was issued a red card for having argued an officials’ call. The hosts reached the scoreboard first as Moises Mata broke through the Redhawk defense and beat the keeper on a firm pass into the goal in the fifth minute of play.Things would get interesting from this point as, minutes later, a Westwood attacker was fouled in the box and a penalty kick was awarded to the guests in the 30th minute. CHS keeper Richard White blocked the shot only to be called for coming off his line and the Redhawks were awarded another kick. After that call, a CHS player was issued a yellow card for arguing the call.
