It was a road which Camden had been down twice before this season and each time, the Bulldogs arrived at a dead end. This time, however, the Bulldogs found a new route and were able to close out a tight game with a 54-48 victory over visiting and second-ranked Dreher Friday night on the Michael G. Culp Court. With the win, Camden stayed in the chase for a playoff berth as it improved to 4-4 in Region 4-AAA, a game behind Lower Richland (5-3) for the fourth and final post-season slot. The loss was the first in seven conference games for the Blue Devils. In similar home tight contests, the Dogs dropped games to Westwood and A.C. Flora by four and five points, respectively. The third time proved to be the charm as the hosts used an 8-0 closing run to get past the league-leaders, even though it was not a smooth path at the end.CHS had chances to give itself some breathing room, but with a 48-46 lead in the final two minutes of play, Ron McKie’s charges missed four of six free throws in a span of 100 seconds to allow the visitors to hang around.
