CAMDEN SOPHOMORE JOSEPH BYRNES won the 100-meter dash in the Bulldogs’ win over Columbia last Wednesday.

Camden swept both halves of its track meet with visiting Columbia held last Wednesday at the Bulldog Athletic Complex.

The Bulldogs defeated the Capitals, 61-42, while the Lady Bulldogs blitzed the Lady Caps, 80-17.

Taking first place for the hosts in the boys’ portion of the meet and their events were Darrion Allen (shot put, 42-1), Devin Engram (200-meter dash, 25:15) and Joseph Byrnes (100-meter dash, 11:56). In addition, the Camden 4 x 100-meter, 4 x 400-meter and 4 x 800-meter relay teams also won their events.

The Lady Bulldogs received a pair of first-place finishes from Amani Boykin, who won the shot put with a throw of 28-3.5 and doubled in the discus with a heave of 41-1. Also winning were Tiyana Peterson (triple jump 30-6), Katelynn Stevens (long jump 13-8), Imani Wyatt (110-meter hurdles, 16.53), Devyn Mortensen (1,600-meter run, 6:52), Caroline Cassidy (400-meter hurdle, 1:20), Deanna Arthur (800-meter run, 2:49) and Morgan Clay (200-meter dash, 29:18). In addition, Camden also took the 4 x 100-meter, 4 x 400-meter and 4 x 800-meter relay races.

After this week’s spring break, Camden will host the Region 4-AAA track and field championships on Wednesday, April 24 at 1 p.m.
