Chapin snaps Lady Bulldogs' region win streak
CHS SENIOR MAGGIE SPEAKS has earned all-tournament honors in both of the Lady Bulldogs in-season events this season.
For the first time in more than five seasons, the Camden High volleyball team dropped a conference match.Last Thursday, Chapin handed the visiting Lady Bulldogs a 3-1 loss in a pairing between the last two unbeatens in Region 4-AAA. Both teams won their first four conferences matches and, did so handily.“We didn’t have a good night and Chapin played a strong match,” said Camden head coach Paige Wilson. “I thought that we stepped up our level of play, but we are still lacking consistency; we still have our ‘flat’ matches.”The Chapin setback came on the heels of a 3-0 blitzing of first-year Westwood in a match played two nights earlier.Prior to Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs seemed to have been turning things around since a loss to Lugoff-Elgin on Sept. 6. Wilson and company took third place in the Sumter Spike-Off after having been seeded fifth after pool play.
