Pam Chickering was all set to deliver an end to the season talk to her Camden High girls’ cross country team following Saturday’s AAA Lower State qualifying meet at Clemson’s Sandhills Research Park facility in Columbia. The Lady Bulldogs’ boss thought her team had finished in 13th place, one spot out of qualifying for the AAA state championship. Then, a parent of one of her runners told Chickering to re-check the figures with the scoring table. Chickering soon discovered that Camden had, indeed, finished 11th and would be competing in this Saturday’s state championship event at the same site in northeast Richland County.Camden’s top finisher was Jordan Woody who, one night earlier, kicked two extra points for the Bulldogs’ football team in a loss to Chapin.
