Breanna Barnes made a path for herself down the sideline and fired home the winning goal midway through the second half as the Camden High girls’ soccer team knocked off host Andrew Jackson, 3-2, last Friday night.

The victory was the first for first-year Lady Bulldog head coach Aaron Mayes.

On a cold evening, Camden trailed 2-0 in the first half before scoring three unanswered goals.

The visitors reached the scoreboard for the first time when Brooke Galdeen took a penalty kick after the Lady Volunteers were called for a hand ball. Galdeen deposited her shot into the left corner of the goal to trim the deficit to 2-1.

Later in the half, Camden’s Taylor Jordan was able to place the ball in the back of the net, off a corner kick by Galdeen, which knotted things at 2-2 at intermission.

Barnes’ was the lone goal of the second 40 minutes as she was able to break away from the AJ defense and headed down the field for the score which the CHS defense made stand.
