CHS honors 1958 state champions

Camden High School will honor its 1958 AA state championship baseball team on the 55th anniversary of that team’s achievement during the break in the third inning of tonight’s home game with Dreher.The Region 4-AAA game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start at American Legion Park in Camden.The 1958 Bulldogs, coached by the late Lindsay Pierce, were the fourth CHS team in that school year to win a state crown. The CHS football, boys’ and girls’ basketball teams all won state titles earlier that school year.The 1958 state championship came after the 1956 and 1957 CHS baseball teams won the state class A championship.Richard Ammons, a member of the 1958 team, will throw out the first pitch before the varsity game.
