It may not rank anywhere close to being one of the biggest of his 560 tennis coaching victories at Camden High, but Thursday’s 4-2 win over visiting A.C. Flora was one which Roger Smoak cherished, nonetheless. After having opened the season with two losses, the Dogs got back on the winning track as they downed their former and soon-to-be region riva, AC. Flora at the CHS athletic complex which was officially opened with a pair of ribbon-cutting ceremonies that afternoon.“It is always nice to get that first win, especially this one since we dedicated the courts before the match … it made it kind of special,” Smoak said. “It was also big because we were coming off a tough, home court loss to Wilson Hall.”While not the powerhouse squad which Flora fielded several years ago, the Falcons seem to be heading in the right direction with several upperclassmen dotting their roster. “This was not an easy match for us,” Smoak said.
