After an uneven start to the season, the Camden High tennis team downed Wilson and Lugoff-Elgin on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, to extend their win streak to four matches with one more contest left before taking next week off for spring break. The Bulldogs (7-3) knocked off Wilson, 5-1, before handling cross-river rival L-E-, 6-1, one day later. The L-E match gave CHS head coach Roger Smoak a chance to mix and match his lineup as first singles player Jo Jo Tiller was given a match off in singles. In first singles, L-E’s Hunter Horton handed Roderick Todd a 6-2, 3-6, (10-4) loss for the Demons’ lone victory.CHS stormed back with Nelson Semple downing Zach Smith, 6-1, 6-3, in second singles while Davis Goodrich outlasted Hunter Johnson at number three, 6-4, 3-6, (11-9). Ben Goodrich was bumped up to fourth singles and won for the seventh straight time, taking a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Justin Tillman.“Ben has really picked it up for us,” Smoak said of Goodrich’s recent stretch of strong play.
