For the first time in nine years, Camden will sit out the AAA state boys’ tennis playoffs. The Bulldogs saw their chances of a return trip to the post-season go by the boards in a 4-2 loss to A.C. Flora on Tuesday in Columbia. CHS defeated the Falcons, at home, earlier this season by a 4-3 count.By virtue of its win, which came after a victory over Dreher, A.C. Flora sewed up second place behind three-time defending AAA state champion Chapin to punch its ticket into the post-season.“They deserved it,” said Camden head coach Roger Smoak after his team slipped to 9-5 on the season while ending with a 2-4 mark in Region 4-AAA. “Flora beat Dreher and then, they beat us here at the end of the season. I tell our kids all the time that it’s how you are playing at the end of the year, not just at the beginning of the year that’s matters.
