Gary earns PBC honor; nears FMU career points mark

Former Camden High basketball standout and Francis Marion University graduate student Evrik Gary was honored on Monday as the Peach Belt Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 23.In earning the PBC weekly honor, Gary averaged 31.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in two wins last week as the Patriots secured the fourth tournament berth in the PBC’s East Division. The 6-foot-3, 155-pounder shot 50 percent from the floor, including 6-of-15 three-pointers, and was a near-perfect 23-of-25 at the foul line. On Saturday during a 34-point performance in an upset win over GRU Augusta, He began the week with a 29-point outburst against Flagler College, and in the two contests played 72 of a possible 80 minutes.
