Chloe Grein scored her 99th career goals while Mary Caston Morgan posted her 11th shutout of the season as the Camden girls’ soccer team closed Region 4-AAA play with a 10-0 win over Keenan Wenesday.
The victory gave the Lady Bulldogs a 7-1 conference record an a 13-3 overall mark.
CHS received a pair of Dayton Jeffcoat goals and one each from Kate Jones and Rosa Carerra to lead, 5-0 at halftime. Mary Boucher had a pair of second half goals while Haleigh Scott, Misha Messinides, and Hailey Webb had one each in the second 40 minutes for Pam Chickering’s squad.
CHS tennis closes regular season with a shutout: Camden tuned up for the AAA state playoffs --- which start next Tuesday for the Region 4 champions who received a first round bye --- by capping an 11-1 regular season with a 6-0 shutout over visiting Dreher on Wednesday in a match played on the Roger Smoak Tennis Courts at the Bulldog Athletic Complex.
Wilson Pope won his first singles match, 6-2, 6-1, while his younger brother, David Pope, followed with a 6-3 6-1 victory in second singles. Ben Battiata scored a 6-1, 6-3 sweep at third singles.
Mac Long breezed past his opponent in fourth singles, winning, 6-3, 6-0, while Wilson Nash closed out singles action by rebounding from a first set 6-1 setback to win the next two, 6-1 10-5.
The second doubles tandem of Brett Elliott and Josh Bowers had the easiest time of things for Tim Webb’s squad as the blanked the Blue Devil foes, 6-0, 6-0.
