Nothing came easy for Camden in the first 16 games of the girls basketball season, so why then, should the Lady Bulldogs’ have expected anything different in Thursday’s season finale? Facing a Hartsville team led by 5-foot-10 Division I prospect Jasmine Phillips, the visiting Lady Red Foxes closed the season for Natalie Jeffcoat’s charges with a 64-43 loss on Coach Mike Culp Court at CHS. Hartsville put this one out of reach in the middle two quarters as the guests turned a 16-15 first quarter advantage into a 36-22 halftime cushion before turning this one into a rout by outscoring the hostesses, 19-7, in the third quarter to carry a commanding 55-29 lead into the final eight minutes of the contest. The loss put an end to a tough season for Jeffcoat, who made her return to the Lady Bulldogs’ bench after having been hired late last summer.
