Joseph leads Bulldogs in 4-AAA X-C meet

Led by a second-place finish from Clark Joseph, the Camden High boys’ cross country team finished fifth in last week’s Region 4-AAA cross country championship held in Chapin.Joseph, a junior who was an all-conference runner a year ago, as well, finished in a time of 17:43.89. Dreher’s Nick Putnam won the individual championship with a National Elite clocking of 15:56.01 for the 3.1-mile race.Chapin won the team title with 36 points followed by Dreher (55), Westwood (93), A.C. Flora (103), Camden (115) and Lower Richland (137).After Joseph, the Bulldogs’ best finish came from Trey Buckelew, who was 15th in a time of 18:46.87. Mackey Cantey was next for the Dogs in 37th place (20:11.04) followed by teammates P.T. Joseph (42nd, 20:25:45) and Hunt Brunson (51; 20:48.29).In the girls’ division, Camden finished in fourth place with 112 points, trailing champion Chain (24), A.C. Flora (49) and Dreher (68).The top finisher for the Lady Bulldogs was Abby McLaughlin, whose final time of 22:25.03 was good for 18th place.
