After having their season opening match rained out against Blythewood, the Camden High girls tennis team dropped a pair of matches to host West Florence last Tuesday and to Darlington in Thursday’s home opener. In Tuesday’s match, senior Katie Tiller was the lone winner against West Florence with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rachel Sillman. While the Lady Dogs could not muster another victory, second-year head coach Stephen Sutusky was encouraged by the play of several players. “Our doubles tandem of Virginia Lackey and Clarke Allen played well and are continuing to get better each day,” he said.On Thursday, Camden hosted Darlington and narrowly lost, 4-2, in a pairing which saw several opportunities for Camden to win the match.
