Lady Bulldogs rout Westwood

Improving its playoff stock, the Camden High girls’ tennis team knocked off Westwood, 5-1, in a Region 4-AAA match played in Blythewood on Tuesday night.The Lady Bulldogs had already secured a state playoff berth and are vying for the chance to move into second or third place in conference play with two leagues pairings left on the docket.CHS head coach Stephen Sutusky paired Maggie Wehunt and Margaret Guy together at second doubles. The newly formed team came through with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Shannon Smith and Sydney Grant to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead.“We mixed the lineup up a little bit and paired these two, who were able to win in pretty convincing fashion,” Sutusky said.CHS third singles’ player Virginia Lackey was next off the court as she easily defeated Rebekah Holloman in straight sets. “Virginia has gone up against some very tough opponents this year,” Sutusky said, “and has though she’s played well, she hasn’t been rewarded as much as she’d like.
