Rose ready to get 'on track' at Winthrop
Rose signing
CAMDEN'S SHALACE ROSE is flanked by her parents, Charlene Franklin and Isom Rose, as she signed a national track letter-of-intent with Winthrop University. Looking on from behind, from left, are CHS principal Dan Matthews and CHS track coaches First Sgt. James Murphy, Daniel Sisk and Emet Reyes.
Being a member of the Camden High track team is not the easiest gig in high school sports. Without a completed track, team members train on all different types of surfaces, only competing over a standard running track when they travel to meets. That reason makes Shalace Rose’s signing a national letter-of-intent to continue her academic and track and field pursuits at Winthrop University even more impressive.
