It was Hagler-Hearns on grass, circa 1980s Loyola Marymount basketball on cleats. It was a game in which defense was a myth rather than reality. Some three hours and 15 minutes after it started, Fairfield Central walked off the Zemp Stadium playing surface with the Region 4-AAA championship and a 70-55 victory over host Camden on a record-shattering night which was beamed to a cable television audience.
