Top-ranked Gators blank Bulldogs, 6-0

Before they ever stepped on the field to begin practice for their first season, the River Bluff boys’ soccer team was already ranked first in the AAA state soccer poll.The Gators did little to hurt their stay atop the poll with a 6-0 win over host Camden last Friday night at Zemp Stadium.The loss was the third in as many outings for the Bulldogs which slipped to 0-2 in Region 4-AAA play.The visitors scored three goals in each half to come away with the shutout. “We actually played pretty well, despite what the scoreboard might say,” said CHS head coach Mark Chickering.The Gators scored their first three goals in a span of 20 minutes, starting with a 30-yard blast in the 16th minute of play. With less than five minutes remaining in the opening half, the hosts found themselves trailing, 3-0.RB scored goals four and five when the Dogs could not clear following a Gator corner kick.
