CMA FULLBACK IAN BENTON scored on a 35-yard run in the first quarter of the Spartans 41-7 win over visiting Providence Athletic Club last Friday afternoon.
Just as his team seems to be on the rebound, Camden Military Academy head coach Will Rice will have to wait an extra week to see if the Spartans will be able to build on their momentumRice and company snapped a two-game skid with a 41-7 victory over the visiting Providence Athletic Club last Friday afternoon at Spartan Field. The lopsided win gave CMA a 2-2 record heading into this week’s bye, which comes due to the school’s annual fall break. The Spartans, who were coming off consecutive losses to North Central and East Clarendon, will not play again until the Carolina Wildcats come to town on Saturday, Oct. 11. With the break and no practices being held this week, Rice said it will be up to his players to maintain their conditioning while on their own.Rice said that, in a perfect world, his team would be playing this week but the break comes at a good time for the student body, as a whole.“It’s probably not the best time,” Rice said when asked of the timing of the break.
